Product principles
Useful analytics with a smaller footprint.
Webcounter.ca helps site owners understand visits without turning visitors into a product.
What we will not build
- Keystroke, password, form-value, or clipboard capture.
- Session replay that reconstructs an identifiable person’s screen.
- Browser fingerprinting or cross-site identity graphs.
- Advertising audiences, data brokerage, or hidden consent bypasses.
How we design
We prefer aggregates to profiles, keep cookieless measurement as the default, require consent for optional first-party return measurement, scope identifiers to one site, and make limits or truncation visible.
Safer alternatives come first: aggregate interactions instead of replay, explicit goals instead of form capture, coarse geography instead of address retention, and customer-controlled exports instead of third-party sharing.
